Fashion Runway model, Fashion Stylist, Runway producer and Director for Triple Treat Promotions Pty. Ltd, Susie Smither is talking to us about her next role, facilitator of ‘Red Carpet Women.
What inspired you to create this event?
Red Carpet Series is a wonderful initiative I presented to Chatswood Chase Sydney and I am excited to be producing and presenting it. The Original inspiration come from volunteer work I did as President of ALVA Women in Entertainment. ALVA Inc. is a registered charity that has benevolently supported members of the entertainment community since 1979 – http://alva.org.au/
How did you go about choosing who to approach?
The performers selected are friends and also they needed to be Sydney based
What do you think audiences can learn from these women?
An interesting and valuable insight into what goes on behind the scenes of very demanding careers in the world of entertainment. The trials and tribulations of following your dream and passion while juggling life, family, motherhood as well. Plus the scintillating titbits of theatre gossip and intrigue of course!
Who is your inspiration and why?
Any woman who has a successful career in Show Business. Add a dose of curiosity to dig deeper into how they tick.
How different is it for women in this profession today compared to 10 years ago?
For me it has always been a joy as I have always worked and performed either at part of a team or leading the team. This gives you huge umbrella of support and protection.
What do you have planned next?
From September onwards my schedule will include fashion events, rehearsals for a Christmas pantomime, producing 2 more events for ALVA Women in Entertainment of which I am proud the be President of for the past 15 years, hosting the Friends of the Australian Ballet Brunch, a shopping centre kids talent quest Grand Final, presenting music theatre audition technique workshops for the 2019 ADA Dance Championship and many lovely and interesting hosting and MC gigs that I am very grateful to have fill my calendar.
What is the most valuable piece of advice that you have been given?
Get Up – Dress Up – Turn Up AND Keep your own council

Just be kind, just be thoughtful – to yourself and those around you

Red Carpet Women
Each Tuesday throughout September, Susie Smither will host a series of close and personal interviews with well-known women who have graced our stages and screens. These inspiring interviews will examine a life in the spotlight and the trials and tribulations faced by women in one of the hardest professions.
Susie will be joined by musical theatre legend Nancye Hayes (September 3) who will also be performing a number from her forthcoming one-woman show, actress Rachael Beck (September 10), Doctor Doctor’s Tina Bursill (September 17) and former Prisoner star Amanda Muggleton (September 24).

Red Carpet Runway
On Friday 20th and Saturday 21st September, Chatswood Chase Sydney will host runway shows featuring the best in new season fashions for women and men from leading Australian and international designers.
When: 11am, 12pm and 1pm on Friday 20th and Saturday 21st September
