Press Release:

Carriageworks has announced an expression of interest closing on 14 February 2022 for Greater Sydney-based artists to participate in CUT N POLISH: Artist Car Boot Sale on Sunday 1 May 2022. Presented in Carriageworks’ Blacksmith’s Workshop, CUT N POLISH is a one-day art car boot sale featuring 60 artists and collectives selling their works directly to the public in a casual, market-style environment.

Established by artists for artists, the project provides the opportunity for artists to sell new works, pieces from their back catalogue, collaborations and artist side projects, direct to the public in a ‘cash and carry’ market model. Participation is free and all sale proceeds will go directly and in full to the artists.

Carriageworks CEO Blair French said: “Carriageworks is proud to support this artist-led initiative that will provide a platform for artists to sell their works directly to the public for one day only. Artists are at the heart of our programming at Carriageworks and this event will provide vital direct support to artists, after a challenging couple of years for many in the sector.”

Artists applying must be based in Greater Sydney and participants will be selected by Carriageworks together with a panel of artists. The project seeks to support cross-generational artists, including students, emerging, mid-career and established, while also ensuring a representation of diverse cultural expression.

Expressions of interest are open from 17 January 2022 until 14 February 2022. To apply please visit: https://events.carriageworks.com.au/cut-n-polish-eoi.  The selected participating artists will be announced on 4 April 2022.

CUT N POLISH: Artist Car Boot Sale will take place on Sunday 1 May 2022 from 11am until 5pm at Carriageworks’ Blacksmiths’ Workshop.

CUT N POLISH is an initiative of Consuelo Cavaniglia, Jonny Niesche and Brendan Van Hek.
