Darlinghurst Theatre have decided to continue their wonderful initiative from last year, ‘Share The Love’. You have an opportunity to buy tickets for youths, adults and seniors in our community experiencing financial difficulty and hardship. I think this is an amazing idea. I personally will be sharing the love this year, hope you do to. Below is the press release.

Share your love of theatre with those who can’t afford to attend.

Share the Love is an initiative promoting inclusion and access in the arts. Through this terrific program, Darlinghurst Theatre Company distributes free tickets to youths, adults and seniors in our community experiencing financial difficulty and hardship.

Thanks to our supporters, in 2017 we distributed 794 Share the Love theatre tickets.  Many attendees had never been to a theatre performance before and were so excited by the experience and valued it immensely.

“I have just returned from ‘Kindertransport’ with a group of students many of whom had never been to the theatre before & they were buzzing all the way back to school…It has been a wonderful day & so special to experience a very moving and wonderfully executed production with my students.” – Aine De Poar, South Sydney High.

“I just wanted to thank you for the wonderful offer made by you of the complimentary tickets.  I love that Darlinghurst Theatre Company want to be engaged with the local community and particularly those who would normally cannot participate. Thank you for partnering with us in this way.” – Guy Cooper, Wayside Chapel.

This year we distributed Share the Love tickets to client groups from organisations including:

Wayside Chapel
Wesley Edward Eagar Lodge
Kirketon Road Centre
Exodus Foundation
Mathew Talbot Hostel
The Bourke Street Project.

We also distributed Share the Love tickets to young people from the Waranara Centre in Marrickville and to disadvantaged people in the LGBTQI community through ACON and the Bobby Goldsmith Foundation.  We also distributed tickets to senior theatre artists supported by Actor’s Benevolent and to theatre artists who are in receipt of centre-link.
